7/22/23 – On Sunday July 23rd, step back in time to celebrate the Wiawaka Center for Women’s 120th year with the, “History of Fashion Show” at the Fort William Henry Carriage House from 2 to 4pm.  Re-enactors portraying Wiawaka founders Katrina Trask and Mary Fuller will welcome guests to celebrate the evolution of women’s fashions from the philanthropists’ era.  Spend the afternoon mingling with actresses portraying Trask, Fuller, Georgia O’Keeffe, Nellie Bly, Harriet Tubman, Emma Willard and several of their peers all dressed in the fashion of their time.  “History of Fashion” is a collaboration of Wiawaka, Warren County Historical Society, The Chapman Museum and Fashion Follies. Victorian jewelry will be available for purchase, with 10 percent of the proceeds benefiting Wiawaka. Tickets are $65.00 and include a luncheon of lite sandwiches, scones, sweets and iced tea, lemonade, and a special signature drink. 7/31/23 –  On Saturday August 5th, Nipper Knolls Equine Center, will host its fifth annual golf tournament at Airway Meadows Golf Club. Check in begins at 1pm with a 2pm shotgun start. 7/31/23 – Cornell Cooperative Extension is looking for donations of merchandise or gift certificates that will be used for their 14th Annual Golf Tournament and Silent Auction on Saturday August 26th.   All proceeds from the tournament will be used to help financially support Cooperative Extension’s educational programs. 8/3/23 –  On Friday Aug. 4th, the Chapman Historical Museum in Glens Falls holds its Warren Street Walking Tour.  The tour begins at 11am at St. Mary’s Church and runs along Warren Street to The Hyde Collection, looking at important figures who lived in the city and their contributions to the region’s success.  8/5/23 – On Saturday August 5th, the 151st Warren County Youth Fair will take place from 9am until 1pm on the grounds of the Cornell Cooperative Extension offices and Training Center, located at 377 Schroon River Road in Warrensburg.  This FREE event is hosted by the 4-H Youth Development Program and Cooperative Extension.  Families are invited to this FREE event which will include: a dime toss, pie eating, hula hoop and bubble gum blowing contests.  Tour the Training Center and all of the 4-H youth project exhibits on display.  The event will also include seed starting with the Master Gardener, educational garden and arboretum tours, and displays by other community organizations.  Also bring your returnable bottles for the 4-H fundraising bottle drive to support youth programs.  For more information about Warren County 4-H programs, call 518-668-4881 and speak to a 4-H staff member.

8/5/23 – On Saturday August 5th, Warren County Public Health will be holding a rabies clinic at the Queensbury Community Center from 10am to Noon. No appointment is necessary and you don’t have to be a Warren County Resident to attend. Please have dogs on a leash and cats or ferrets in carrier. 8/24/23 – Registration is now open for Warren County’s next household hazardous waste collection event on Saturday August 26th.  Warren County residents who would like to get rid of hazardous materials such as cleaners, pesticides and other household chemicals can do so at Queensbury Highway Department, 742 Bay Road, Queensbury, from 8am to 12 Noon. Residents will be able to safely dispose of materials such as antifreeze, pesticides, latex paints, household cleaners and fluorescent light bulbs at no cost. The Warren County event collection staff will not be able to accept the following gasoline, munitions, automotive oil, batteries, asbestos, pharmaceuticals, infectious waste or tires. 9/4/23 –  Through September 4th, the Lake George Battlefield Park Visitors Center at 75 Fort George Road on the lower level of the Lake George Park Commission’s headquarters  will be open Thursday through Monday from 10am to 4pm. The center has added new features this season, including Native American artifacts from the pre-Colonial period and remnants of a 1758-vintage bateau used by the British, providing a further connection to the site’s storied history.  The Visitors Center also conducts 1-hour guided tours of the Park’s history on Saturdays at 11am. 9/6/23 –  Through September 7th, the Chapman Historical Museum in Glens Falls presents, “Broncho Charlie, Unbridled,” an exhibition of newly acquired works, celebrates the life of Charles Mortimer Miller (1850-1955), best known as Broncho Charlie, who lived for a time and is buried in Glens Falls. The rustic folk art tells the story of his long and adventurous life, which included being the last and youngest Pony Express rider; traveling with Buffalo Bill Cody’s Wild West Show as “The Most Famous Broncho Buster in the West”; training horses for President Teddy Roosevelt; serving as an Army dispatch rider; and riding with Jesse James and General Custer.  For more information about The Chapman Museum, visit www dot Chapman Museum dot org.

TFN –  THE CLOTHING DONATION SHED OF BOY SCOUT TROOP 56 IN HUDSON FALLS IS OPEN AND LOCATED AT THE FIRST PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH AT 9 RIVER STREET.  THE TROOP ACCEPTS DONATIONS OF CLEAN AND WELL CARED FOR PRE-OWNED CLOTHING.  ACCEPTED ITEMS ARE CLOTHING, SHOES, BELTS, PURSES, BLANKETS, SHEETS, CURTAINS, PILLOWCASES, AND STUFFED ANIMALS.  THE TROOP RECEIVES FUNDING FOR THE DONATIONS AND HAS THE OPTION TO USE DONATIONS TO SERVE THE COMMUNITY AS WELL.
