6/17/24 –  Join Cornell Cooperative Extension 4-H of Warren and Washington Counties for the Family Hiking Challenge. To compete in the Challenge, your family must complete a total of six hikes including at least two of the guided hikes offered by Cornell Cooperative Extension, and attend an orientation Zoom meeting where they will cover hiker safety and “Leave No Trace” principles. Families who participate in the Challenge will get hiking swag and a guidebook to local hikes. Those families completing six hikes will also be awarded a variety of prizes to help them to continue exploring outdoors. The Challenge begins at the end of June and runs through the second weekend in October.  The Challenge is open to any family in Warren and Washington Counties and there is no cost to participate. The mandatory orientation will be held on June 18th at 6:30 pm via Zoom. 6/19/24 – On Wednesday June 19th, the Chapman Historical Museum in Glens Falls will hold “Storytime at the Museum” at 2pm.  In celebration of Juneteenth, they will read the book “Juneteenth for Mazie” by Floyd Cooper.   After the story, participants will get to express their creativity as they color images associated with this meaningful holiday.  The program is intended for children ages 5-9 but is open to all.  Parental participation is encouraged, and supervision is required. The program is free and does not require registration.

6/19/24 –  On Wednesday June 19th,  American Legion Post 574 on Pearl Street in Hudson Falls will be holding a special election for all Legionnaire Officers.  All Legionnaires in good standing are eligible to vote in this election. Please be prepared to show proof of membership. The meeting will start at 6pm.

6/20/24 – On Friday June 21st, the Chapman Historical Museum in Glens Falls hold its next walking tour of Glens Falls at 11am.  “Behind the Business” highlights some of the lesser-known Glens Falls businesses on the west side of the downtown business district from the 1860s to the 1950s. Participants can park at the Chapman Museum in the lot behind the Museum off Bacon Street.  Tours are $15.00 per person or $10.00 for Chapman members. Payment is required at time of registration. 6/24/24 – Local residents can improve their career skills for free thanks to a schedule of online workshops offered during the month of June through the Warren County Career Center and their Capital Region Career Centers partners.  The staff at the Warren County Department of Workforce Development/Career Center have worked with their counterparts around the Capital Region to put together these workshops that focus on assisting job seekers in bettering their career outlook.  Registration is required.  To sign up go online at www dot warren county ny dot gov backslash employment training.  The schedule of June workshops are as followed.  Completing Job Applications, Thursday, June 20th at 11am.  Networking, Friday, June 21st at 10:30am.  Overcoming Barriers to Employment, Tuesday, June 25th at 11am; and Using Social Media, Tuesday, June 25th at 1:30pm.  These classes are part of the monthly offerings from Capital Region Career Centers, a group of local county and city-based Career Centers and partners that includes the Warren County Career Center.

6/24/24 – Through the end of June, the Lake George Battlefield Park Visitor Center located on the bottom floor of 75 Fort George Road in Lake George, will be open weekends from 10am to 4pm.  The Lake George Battlefield Park Alliance will hold free 1-hour tours of the park’s historic grounds each Saturday at 11am.  The tours begin and conclude at the Visitor Center. Stop by for lawn games and refreshments, while exploring the beautiful Chapman gardens with local gardening expert Ronn Mattia as your guide.  Admission is free and is weather permitting.

7/28/24 – The Granville Lions Club will hold its annual summer furniture sale at the Lions’ warehouses, located behind the post office on Main Street. TFN –  THE CLOTHING DONATION SHED OF BOY SCOUT TROOP 56 IN HUDSON FALLS IS OPEN AND LOCATED AT THE FIRST PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH AT 9 RIVER STREET.  THE TROOP ACCEPTS DONATIONS OF CLEAN AND WELL CARED FOR PRE-OWNED CLOTHING.  ACCEPTED ITEMS ARE CLOTHING, SHOES, BELTS, PURSES, BLANKETS, SHEETS, CURTAINS, PILLOWCASES, AND STUFFED ANIMALS.  THE TROOP RECEIVES FUNDING FOR THE DONATIONS AND HAS THE OPTION TO USE DONATIONS TO SERVE THE COMMUNITY AS WELL.
