5/10/24 –   On Saturday May 11th, the Warren County Commission for the 250th Anniversary of the American Revolution will hold a presentation by Alexander Cain: “Lexington and
Concord, We Stood our Ground” at 11am at the Queensbury Masonic Historical Society on Burke Drive in Queensbury. 5/11/24 – On Saturday May 11th, the Warren County Fish Hatchery at 145 Echo Lake Road in Warrensburg will hold its “Spring Zing” open house and fishing clinic from 9:30am to 2pm. It’s a day of fish-themed fun, with clinics, prizes, demonstrations, free food and other activities. Tours of the trout-rearing operation at the hatchery will be offered. There will be fishing clinics, fly tying demonstrations, and discussion of stream entomology. A free hot dog lunch will be available from 11:30am to 1pm.  For more information, call 518-623-2877

5/11/24 – On Saturday, May 11th, the Slate Valley Museum in Granville will welcome Hawaiian artist Scott Kekuhaupi’o Manley for an artistic demonstration exploring his methods for engraving on slate from 1 to 3pm. Visitors will be welcomed to try engraving themselves. Some small slate pieces will be available at the museum, but people are welcome to bring their own slate pieces to create on as well.  The cost of attending the demonstration is included in the museum’s regular admission price.  The museum is currently closed, but will open for this special program. 5/14/24 – Artists and artisans are invited to participate in a weekend of celebration of the talent in Washington County during the sixth annual, “Artisan Trails in Washington County” July 13th and 14th, from 10am to 4pm.  New this year, “hubs,” such as breweries, galleries, shops, etc. will host multiple artisans and artists at their location on the open studios tour, along with live demonstrations, plein air painting, and workshops.  Artists and artisans are invited to apply by May 15th; or for more information on becoming a Hub location, applications for both can found online at www dot artisan dash trails dot org.

5/15/24 – On Wednesday May 15th, the Chapman Museum in Glens Falls will hold a presentation on the Sister Cities Committee of Glens Falls and Warren County at 7pm.  In celebration of Asian American and Native Hawaiian/Pacific Islander Heritage Month, Milly Koh of the Sister Cities Committee of Glens Falls and Warren County will speak about the Sister Cities program between Glens Falls and Saga, Japan. Milly will discuss the recent visit of middle and high school students from Saga, as well as her own decision to immigrate to the United States. The program is free, but requires a registration. 5/18/24 – On Saturday May 18th, the Community Climate Action Walk will take place in downtown Glens Falls from 1 to 4pm.  Participants will gather at 1pm at City Park by Crandall Public Library with the walk taking place at 1:30pm to Glen Street and ending at Crandall Park for speakers and climate action tables.

5/18/24 –  ST. 7/28/24 – The Granville Lions Club will hold its annual summer furniture sale at the Lions’ warehouses, located behind the post office on Main Street. TFN –  THE CLOTHING DONATION SHED OF BOY SCOUT TROOP 56 IN HUDSON FALLS IS OPEN AND LOCATED AT THE FIRST PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH AT 9 RIVER STREET.  THE TROOP ACCEPTS DONATIONS OF CLEAN AND WELL CARED FOR PRE-OWNED CLOTHING.  ACCEPTED ITEMS ARE CLOTHING, SHOES, BELTS, PURSES, BLANKETS, SHEETS, CURTAINS, PILLOWCASES, AND STUFFED ANIMALS.  THE TROOP RECEIVES FUNDING FOR THE DONATIONS AND HAS THE OPTION TO USE DONATIONS TO SERVE THE COMMUNITY AS WELL.

TFN – Cornell Cooperative Extension of Warren County offers a free, confidential Family Budget Coaching Program to community residents.  The one-on-one sessions are available to individuals and families who want to improve their financial literacy, set goals, create a savings plan, reduce debt and get a better handle on their finances.  The trained coaches will offer sessions either via zoom or in person in Glens Falls, Warrensburg and Johnsburg.  For more information on this program, please contact Roxanne Westcott at rmw 38 at cornell dot edu or call (518) 668-4881.
